Dr Angela Seaman
Clinical Psychologist & Chartered Psychologist
Dr Angela Seaman is a fully qualified and accredited Clinical Psychologist, registered with the HCPC and International Society of Schema Therapy (ISST). Angela has a strong background in adult mental health and with veterans.
Angela provides assessment, formulation, and intervention, using a variety of evidence-based approaches to promote well-being and emotional resilience. Angela has a passion for working creatively and collaboratively with clients, to understand what factors might be driving the problems they are experiencing and how these may be overcome, with the end goal of enabling her clients to achieve a more fulfilled life.
Angela specialises in treating a range of longstanding emotional difficulties, using a compassionate and individualised approach. Her specialist interests include working with people with complex trauma, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), personality disorders, anxiety, and depression.
The main approaches Angela uses are: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (including trauma focussed and Prolonged Exposure), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Schema Therapy, phased-based interventions, and is informed by other approaches including Compassion Focussed Therapy and Mindfulness.
After graduating from her undergraduate degree in Psychology, Angela completed a Masters of Science in Mental Health Studies at King’s College London and the Institute of Psychiatry, before going on to complete her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Edinburgh.
Angela has worked in a variety of mental health settings, including community, inpatient, and outpatient settings, as well as charitable organisations, where she held managerial level roles, and for the past ten years’ has worked in the NHS across various NHS trusts. She provides clinical supervision to health professionals, as well as consultancy to non-psychology health professionals.
