Kerry Hustings
Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology
BA, MSc, PGDip (Psychology), MSc (Psychological Therapy)
Kerry is a fully qualified Clinical Associate in Applied Psychology specialised in providing psychological therapy to adults.
Kerry’s approach is rooted in compassion and empathy, meeting individuals where they are to alleviate struggle and enhance well-being. She is dedicated to creating a welcoming, safe space for all, fostering an environment where individuals can explore the sources of their difficulties, understand how past experiences and relationships may impact them, and identify patterns that might keep them feeling “stuck.”
With a wealth of experience in psychological assessment, formulation, and therapy, Kerry is well-equipped to support adults facing a range of challenges. These could include social anxiety, generalised anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, phobias, panic disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, and depression. She also provides valuable assistance to individuals coming to terms with physical health challenges, such as adjusting to long-term conditions like chronic pain or cancer.
Kerry’s therapeutic approach is rooted in a blend of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and mindfulness techniques. She tailors each session to suit individual needs, ensuring that her clients receive the most effective and meaningful support for their unique circumstances.
Kerry is strongly committed to supporting individuals in enhancing their quality of life while managing long-term health conditions. She is particularly skilled in helping clients navigate the psychological impact of chronic illness, providing therapeutic guidance tailored to their unique needs and experiences. Kerry is also deeply interested in equality, diversity, and cultural competence, focusing on creating an inclusive, respectful space for individuals from all backgrounds. She is dedicated to fostering awareness and understanding on how cultural background influences mental health, ensuring her approach is sensitive and responsive to each person’s context.
Kerry completed her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Oberlin College in America before moving to the UK. She then completed a Masters in Global Health and Anthropology at the University of Edinburgh. Kerry converted her US degree to register with the British Psychological Society via a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology from Glasgow Caledonian University. She then went on to complete a Masters in Psychological Therapy in Primary Care, obtaining a distinction in 2017. For the past seven years, she has worked in the NHS providing individual and group treatment, first in the Primary Care Psychological Therapy service and more recently with Secondary Care Health Psychology in Chronic Pain and Oncology services.
